Holidays to Marbella & Andalucia

Described as quintessentially Spanish, Andalucia is a land of fiestas, flamenco and tapas; where every Spanish dream you've ever had comes true. Quaint fishing villages and bustling tourist resorts nestle side-by-side, while mountainous landscapes overlook secluded bays, and sprawling cities melt into vast countryside. Once dominated by the Moors, remnants of their reign still cast striking shadows over much of the region, and you'll find yourself awe-struck by the architecture that remains; cities such as Seville, Cordoba, and Granada are a testament to such a past. Elsewhere you'll discover the Spain of holiday brochures, with the Costa del Sol ripe for exploration and entertainment, and the Sierra Nevada mountains looming. Andalucia is an idea destination regardless of your passions, a haven for sports lovers, sightseers, and beach bunnies alike.

Travel Tips & Advice for Marbella and Andalucia

Marbella and Andalucia Activities

With both a beautiful coastline of the Costa del Sol and incredible mountains of the Sierra Nevada there is something for everyone. From sun bathing and people watching in Marbella to hiking in the mountains or walking the hilltop towns of Ronda and Mijas there’s plenty to keep active. Hike up the Rock of Gibraltar alongside its inhabitants – Barbary Macaques or take a boat trip to go dolphin and whale spotting. Inland enjoy wine and olive oil tasting for some of the best in the country.

Marbella and Andalucia Food & Drink

With a historical influence from invading Moors from North Africa, Andalucian cuisine is often filled with ingredients imported from more exotic places including saffron, spices, almonds, dates, lemons and sweet peppers. A lot of these ingredients feature in tapas which are said to originate in Andalusia and remain the nation’s favourite way to dine – little sharing dishes with a combination of ingredients often eaten in bars to accompany drinks. Other popular typically Spanish treats that originated here are gazpacho – a thick, cold tomato soup and cured, delicious Serrano ham. Also, don’t forget that sherry comes from the town of Jerez so mustn’t be missed!

Marbella and Andalucia Attractions

The coastal city of Malaga was once the hotel of Picasso so enjoy a tour of the museum or walk the streets and visit the magnificent cathedral. The most famous sight in the area is Granada’s Alhambra (make sure to book tickets in advance) which is a magnificent palace and fortress not to be missed with many historical influences. Seville’s Moorish palace the Alcazar and Cordoba’s Mezquita – an ornate cathedral-turned-mosque – are also beautiful sights to behold.
