The East Coast of America has many wonderful beaches with South Carolina having some of the best beaches in the entire USA. Myrtle Beach has soft white sands, calm seas and stunning views of the Atlantic. An East Coast USA holiday is perfect for sunbathing and swimming and with plenty of activities for children is a great destination for a family beach holiday. Virginia beach has waters ideal for scuba diving and swimming and the long seafront boardwalk provides plenty of activities, including cycling, water-skiing and running. The beaches of Key West are all unique with some catering more for water sports but almost all of them are ideal for swimming, sunbathing and snorkelling. Florida boasts the only coral reef in the United States. Divers from across the world come to the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park to experience the area's diverse marine life.

Along the coast are beaches that are ideal for families and water sports. Beaches in South Carolina have soft white sand. Myrtle Beach is ideal for families with plenty of activities, while Hilton Head Beach has 12 miles of sand and sparkling waters. Enjoy birdwatching, fishing or water sports along the shore. Head to the Florida Keys for great beaches and fantastic scuba diving on the barrier reef. St. Petersburg Florida has two of the best beaches in the United States.
East Coast cuisine is varied and you can dishes from around the world. Maine is famous for its seafood. Stonington has some of the best lobster in the country. The Damariscotta River area is the place for delicious oysters. Florida's cuisine is influenced by African and Spanish flavours. The dishes are a mix of Caribbean and Latin renowned for a spicy taste. Traditional Florida dishes are "pit" barbecued beef, pork or chicken, garlic-seasoned crab and prawns, and black-eyed peas.
Myrtle Beach in South Carolina has white sands stretching for 60 miles. With a sub-tropical climate, it is a popular destination for families. The area has great scenery and activities to keep visitors occupied. The Hamptons is an upmarket island that is home to many artists. Jackson Pollack and his wife Lee Krasner made their home on the island. In the East Hampton Springs area, you will find the Pollock-Krasner Study Centre where you can take a tour of their residence and studio.
