One of the main highlights of Botswana is without a doubt being on safari in the wildlife-rich national parks. Chobe National Park offers both land and water safaris that allow you to get up close to the animals on a game drive, walking safari or river cruise. Mokoro boats (local canoe) are used in the wet season to get into the best game viewing areas on the Okavango Delta. For a more authentic experience and something more adventurous, then mobile camping is highly recommended.

Food and Drink in Botswana

The food and drink in Botswana is traditionally very similar to most Southern African countries with pap and samp being a common staple. Want to try something unique to the country? Try seswaa which is salted and mashed-up meat. Watermelons are also popular as they are believed to have originated from Botswana. While you're here, be sure to try the locally brewed St. Louis beer and fermented milk, otherwise known as sour milk, that is drunk on its own or added to porridge.

There is an abundance of national parks in Botswana that each have their own unique attractions. Take a Mokoro canoe trip through the Okovongo Delta with your guide to see crocodiles and hippos up close or drift close to the elephants having their morning or evening drink. The Chobe attracts those that want to see herds of elephant in their thousands while the Kalahari makes for excellent photography in the floodplains.
