Holidays to Dubrovnik

Croatia's most popular destination is also - unsurprisingly - one of its most fascinating and beautiful. An ancient fortress town with city walls that provide the perfect place to walk and admire incredible views, Dubrovnik also boasts cool bars, trendy boutiques and excellent restaurants. Marvel at the marble streets, baroque buildings and renaissance palaces before taking a trip on a restored cable car and enjoying sea views. Dubrovnik is one of the most romantic spots in the Mediterranean and offers the perfect introduction to Croatia. Whether you are sipping on a cocktail while overlooking the stunningly clear waters of the Adriatic, walking the ancient walls that once defended this incredible city, or learning about Croatia's intriguing history in its museums, Dubrovnik is a charming and enchanting destination.

Travel Tips & Advice for Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik Activities

Top of ‘must do’ activities in Dubrovnik is a leisurely stroll around the mile-long city walls dating back to the 13th century – come early to avoid the heat and the crowds. For a birds-eye-view of the city ride the cable car to Mount Srđ or take to the water on a sea kayaking trip. Want to sunbathe? Catch a ferry to the Lokrum islet, covered in pine and eucalyptus and with slabs of rocks perfect for soaking up the sunshine - plus a replica of the Iron Throne!

Dubrovnik Food & Drink

Surrounded by the impossibly blue-green waters of the Adriatic Sea, the menus of restaurants in Dubrovnik are filled with top-notch seafood dishes from octopus salad and fresh oysters to frigane lignje (fried squid). If you’re after a quick lunch-time filler, stop by one of the hole-in-the-wall sandwich shops with delicious cheese and prsut fillings. And to drink? Watch the sunset from one of the buža bars, perched on cliffs just outside the city walls.

Dubrovnik Attractions

There are – perhaps surprisingly – a number of museums in Dubrovnik and if you plan on hitting any number of them, we recommend purchasing a multi-museum pass. This will give you entrance to The Rector’s Palace, one of the loveliest buildings in the city, and the Maritime Museum among many others. We suggest you step inside and back in time in the 14th century Franciscan Monastery Museum with its pretty cloister and courtyard.
