Holidays to Halkidiki

Halkidiki is a three-pronged peninsula with Kassandra and Sithonia being the two most built up, while Athos remains a secluded and secretive retreat for monks and male pilgrims. It may have been 'discovered' by now, but that doesn't make the surprise any less pleasant if visiting in the spring or early autumn when the crowds have dispersed and you have the beach practically to yourself. Ideal for families, this is also a great spot for couples wanting to get away from it all, and is a wildflower heaven in the spring. Come the summer the tavernas are packed, the bars are full, and the beaches a tad busier, but it's no less of a haven from the hectic rhythm of everyday life. Halkidiki is also becoming popular with outdoor adventure enthusiasts, so even if you're not one for lying around on beautiful beaches, there's plenty to keep you busy out on the water.
