More Travel Information

The blend of cultures, predominately Malay, Indian and Chinese, has created some unique dishes. The popular Chinatown area has a great choice of hawker stalls and restaurants. The Bukit Bintang district is home to everything from cheap stalls to fine dining. The luxury hotels all offer excellent dining facilities, including the award-winning Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant at the Parkroyal, and views across the city at the Big Apple Restaurant in the Berjaya Times Square Hotel.
The city is packed with sights, from the colonial heritage through to the modern day architecture. Merdeka Square marks the spot where the British flag was last lowered; there's also Lake Gardens, with an orchid garden, deer park and planetarium. There are amazing views of the city from the observation deck on the 86th floor of the Petronas Towers, and the Skybridge that joins the two. At the Menara Tower you get some fantastic vistas from the top, including that of the Petronas Towers.
Kuala Lumpur comes to life after dark - it is a great city to explore when the buildings are all lit up and a simple wander through the streets is a beautiful experience. If you're after a lively evening, Bukit Bintang is the city's main entertainment district, with restaurants, shops and an indoor theme park. For a more cultural time you can pay a visit to the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, which houses the Hindi deities, or pick up some great value souvenirs on the streets of Chinatown.
