With the sea so close by, it's hardly surprising that the majority of activities in the Seychelles revolve around the water. There are many boat charters to take you island hopping to explore some of the quieter, uninhabited locations teeming with wildlife. Fishing is always a popular day out and you will have guidance as you sail on the calm waters and try your luck with a rod. Several diving centres offer lessons for beginners or will hire out equipment for experienced divers.

Seychelles Food & Drink

The Seychelles has a unique cuisine fusing African, Chinese, Indian, French and English cooking. Spices take pride of place with hundreds of different options to choose from. If you love to try novel and unfamiliar foods then this is the place for you. The main ingredients are seafood and chillies and everything is extremely fresh. Vegetables and fruit such as pumpkin and green mangoes are staples of the cuisine. For drinks, palm wine is popular, as is bacca made from sugarcane liqueur.

With its mix of cultures, the Seychelles has a fascinating range of sites to visit. Nature reserves such as Ile Cocos Marine National Park open up the underwater worlds of coral reefs. Art galleries and historic architectural gems are there to be discovered as the rich island past comes to life. Kenwyn House, built in 1855, a prime example of colonial architecture from France, now houses an excellent selection of jewellery. Botanic gardens add to the islands' natural beauty.
