Holidays to Mykonos

Holidays to Mykonos

Mykonos has become one of Greece's most popular island destinations, especially for those who like a little luxury on the side of their beach holiday. Mykonos town manages to blend traditional Grecian architecture with a truly modern sensibility, with cobbled streets lined with high fashion boutiques, trendy bars, superb restaurants, and coffee shops that wouldn't look out of place in Brooklyn or Shoreditch. Nightlife is a way of life on this island, and if it's clubs and bars you're looking for, this really is the place to come. In high season clubs reverberate with fun loving crowds, while beachfront bars provide the perfect place from which to watch one of the island's stunning sunsets. Visit in the spring or autumn and you'll be treated to a softer, quieter side of the island while still being able enjoy the incredible weather and warm welcome.

Mykonos Activities

Mykonos has some wonderful, sandy beaches and you should definitely venture to a few across the island as they vary from small beaches spotted with locals to more famous ones perfect for some celeb spotting. If you are keen on watersports, the island’s breeze makes it ideal for windsurfing or maybe try your hand at kite surfing. Mykonos is well known for its intense nightlife and endless parties from laid back beach parties to clubs where the fun goes on into the early hours!

Mykonos Food & Drink

Mykonos has some incredible restaurants with a lot of ‘fusion cuisine’ but when talking about the more traditional Myconian treats there is a great variety: kopanisti is a type of cheese famous for its spicy taste and is a great accompaniment to ouzo; as an island, fish is of course a staple and the most common, red mullet, is often cooked with tomatoes and capers; for your sweet tooth, the marzipan-like sweets amygdalota are crunchy on the outside and soft and delicious in the middle.

Mykonos Attractions

Spending a day getting lost in the labyrinthine streets of Mykonos and you will come across all sorts of gems: from charming, whitewashed houses with flower-draped balconies to streets adorned with boutiques, art galleries and cafes. Don’t miss the unique area of Little Venice where houses are built right up to the water’s edge and the perennially-photographed windmills south east of Chora. Only 30 minutes away by ferry is the small island of Delos which, according to Greek Mythology, was the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis.
