With its mountain-backed port capital bearing the somewhat unlikely name of Scarborough, Tobago is a popular Caribbean island with holidaymakers. It is smaller than its nearby brother, Trinidad, and together they form the nation of Trinidad and Tobago. Luxury Tobago holiday deals mean a break in a Caribbean idyll with good beaches and areas of tropical rainforest. Scarborough is village like in character and has an interesting food market at its centre. Fort King George overlooks the city and contains work by local artists and a museum. The main tourist attractions in Tobago are Nylon Pool, Pigeon Point Beach and Englishman's Bay. There is also a rainforest reserve to visit. Try the Seahorse Inn and the Fish Pot to sample the local cuisine. For dining with great views head for the Castara Retreats Restaurant: Castara Bay is also a great snorkelling spot.

Travel Tips & Advice For Tobago

Luxury Tobago holidays feature horseback riding, mountain biking and off road tours by motorbike or jeep in parts of the island that are off the beaten track. Play golf or relax in one of the many wellness centres with spas. Diving, snorkelling and sailing are very popular and there are some lovely spots for surfing. Beaches have either clean white sands or darker volcanic versions and the bays are plentiful.
A blend of culinary influences from the Middle East, Africa, Europe, India and China results in the flavours and tastes of the food and drink you experience on your luxury Tobago holidays. Lobster, barbecued pig-tail and burgers made from tuna steak or beef are delightful. Roti is the national staple - a type of bread that originated in Eastern India, often served in different ways. Other typical dishes include curried crab and dumplings and coconut water makes for a refreshing drink.
The Botanical Gardens sweep over 10 acres of the island and contain tropical delights for nature lovers. For iguanas, birds and butterflies head to Arnos Vale where you can also pick and eat your own fruit at the Adventure Farm and Nature Reserve. Hikers can explore Grafton Caledonia Wildlife Sanctuary where some of the birds are still fed daily by hand. For a cool swim with a difference head to the pretty waterfall near Roxborough - a great freshwater change from ocean bathing.
