Visit Alcatraz Island (tours available) off North Beach, climb the tallest building - the Transamerica Pyramid skyscraper - and spot sea lions at Pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf. The shops, restaurants and fairground type attractions at the Wharf act as a magnet for tourists. Angel Island State Park is a favourite with many visitors and entertainment abound in the city.
