Fiji Holidays

With its turquoise lagoons, soft sands and palms trees, it would be an understatement to call Fiji beautiful – in fact, its stunning landscapes are so cinematic that they were used as a filming location for the Tom Hanks film, Cast Away! With over 300 islands in this archipelago in the South Pacific, there’s no doubt that Fiji holidays are the ultimate in island escapism.

Embrace Fiji’s natural, rugged beauty from the impressive Coral Coast, which is 50 miles of golden sands on the main island of Viti Levu to the vibrant underwater world which is best explored snorkelling and diving. The largest islands offer plenty of opportunities to explore beyond the beach, in particular Taveuni, known as the ‘Garden Isle’ thanks to the fact that a third of the island is taken up by Bouma National Heritage Park filled with lush jungle and waterfalls.

And while you may be tempted to head straight to your beachside resort when you land into Nadi – the main entry point for Fiji holiday – you might want to take time to visit some of the city’s local attractions including the Hindu temple, Sri Siva Subramaniya and the luscious Garden of the Sleeping Giant.

Whichever island you decide to stay on, we have a number of luxury resorts to choose from, handpicked by our travel experts. From resorts with beachfront villas and overwater bungalows to private island retreats and adults-only hideaways, you’ll find the perfect choice of accommodation for any Fiji holiday right here.

Fiji Holidays Tips & Inspiration

Fiji Activities

When you’re finished sunning yourself on one of Fiji’s many white-sand beaches, pull on some comfortable shoes and go for a hike. There are a myriad of trails that you simply can’t miss, including the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. Swim in waterfalls, go crab hunting and stroll through Taveuni Island, Fiji’s Garden of Eden, where over 80% of the space teeming with orchids and rare ancient plants is protected. Snorkelling and surfing are also a must in Fiji, regardless of whether you’re a newbie or practically an expert. There are also hot springs and mud pools to visit which you can soak in to help ease aches and pains – Sabeto is a popular spot for tourists. Cover yourself in skin-soothing mud, dry off in the sun then take a dip in the springs to wash off. It's the perfect natural spa and a great activity for honeymooning couples to enjoy together.

Fiji Food & Drink

Fiji offers an abundance of fresh seafood dishes and sides plucked straight from the surrounding waters. Fijian foods tend to be very healthy with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, such as sweet potatoes, as well as rice, fish and coconut. A traditional salad called Kokoda is a particular favourite with both locals and tourists alike. This dish consists of raw snapper marinated in lime, then soaked in velvety coconut cream with vegetables. You can also try taro, which is a root vegetable often compared to yam, and suwara curry. And you cannot visit Fiji without trying Kava or Yaqona, the national drink. Drinking Kava is marked with great ceremony; a drink known for its sedative properties that help you relax into the Fijian way of life. Made from the root of a pepper plant, it’s served in a bilo, a bowl made from a coconut.

Fiji Attractions

World-famous for its many beauty spots, Fiji holidays are the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Uncover age-old Fijian traditions and cultures with a visit to some of Fiji’s incredible cultural and historical sites, such as the 18th century Tavuni Hill Fort and Mariamma Temple where the south Indian fire-walking festival is held between the months of July and August each year. Ornate and vibrant, the sacred Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple is another breathtaking sight. Admire the statues of adored kings, gods and warriors while simultaneously admiring the artistic nature of the many colourful murals located inside. Kula Eco Park is great for wildlife lovers – keep an eye out for the flying fox, Fiji’s only native land mammal. For those seeking a thrill, head to Pacific Harbour where you'll find everything from river rafting to 4WD tours.
