Travel Tips & Advice for Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe Activities

If you’re after an adrenaline rush, your first stop in Zimbabwe has to be Victoria Falls. One of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World you can go white-water rafting and bungee jumping or simply take things slow at one of the 16 viewing points. Other water-based adventures include fishing on Lake Kariba – one of the largest man-made lakes in the world – and riving cruises down the Zambezi River. And, of course, you’ll have the opportunity for plenty of games drive on safari.

Zimbabwe Food & Drink

Hunger taking hold of you? Fill up on Zimbabwe’s traditional starchy dish, sadza, a white maize that’s made into a thick porridge and served alongside greens and meat, with T-bone steaks a popular choice. And did you know that Zimbabweans love peanut butter? Try mupunga unedovi (rice mixed with peanut butter) or dovi, a vegetable stew flavoured with peanut butter. And for something to drink, sip on local maize beer, Whawha.

Zimbabwe Attractions

You’ll find some of the most diverse wildlife on the continent in Zimbabwe’s national parks, reserves and safari areas. Hwange is home to one of the largest populations of elephant in Africa while Mana Pools promises an authentic safari experience. Go to Matobo to see ancient cave paintings by the San people, thought to be between 3,000 and 10,000 years old while the red sandstones Chilojo Cliffs in Gonarezhou National Park are unlike anything else you’ll see in the country.
