What To Do On A Maldives Holiday

Maldives Activities

Some travellers venture to the Maldives to relax and do nothing much at all, and there are abundant opportunities for just that. However, if you do like to be more active on holiday there is plenty to do in the Maldives .  Jet and water skiing is very popular and there are numerous excellent dive and snorkelling sites. The Manta Reef, Fotteyo and the British Loyalty Wreck are particularly notable. Visit Male Fish Market for some local colour and the Grand Friday Mosque for sightseeing.

Maldives Food & Drink

Seafood, fruit, soups and rice are among the main items on Maldivian menus and the food is excellent. Maldives dining is a luxurious experience and you'll find something new to tempt your taste buds each day. Many of the Maldives' resorts offer fusion cuisine, heavily influenced by the food of the Indian subcontinent. Alcohol is not readily available but the resorts will serve it. Notable restaurants are the Ithaa Undersea Restaurant at Rangali Island and Sala Thai Restaurant at Male

Maldives Attractions

The natural world is all around you in the Maldives, and you're bound to see something exciting. The ocean that surrounds the islands is rich with fish, sea turtles, whale sharks, eagle and manta rays, sharks and corals, while the jungle hides tropical birds, lemurs, reptiles and amphibians. The islands are a shark sanctuary and you can dive at night to see grey reef sharks. Watch out for spinner dolphins as they make their way out to sea leaping into the air as they go.
