Visit Tung Choi Street Ladies' Market, where stalls hold everything from fresh food to furniture - and things for men, too - and shop for designer clothes at the Harbour City shopping mall - Hong Kong's largest. The skyline tour at night is magical, and no visit to Hong Kong is complete without a tram ride up Victoria Peak. For history buffs, the Big Buddha and Victoria Harbour are a must, and if you are travelling with children - or even if you are not - there is Hong Kong Disneyland.
Hong Kong boasts some of the finest restaurants in the world - Tosca, Tin Lung Heen and the Aqua restaurants are just a few examples - while everything from Cajun to kosher can be found in the city. If you want to sample authentic dim sum, the unashamedly old fashioned Lin Heung Tea House is the place to do it, while for a taste of the bizarre, seek out a cha chaan teng - restaurants that serve an odd blend of eastern and western cuisine that arose in 1960s Hong Kong - like Mido Café.
By day and night, Hong Kong enchants. Take in the statue of Bruce Lee, take a tram to Lantau Island, take a trip to the often-overlooked Chi Lin Nunnery, a quiet oasis in a bustling city. Climb Dragon's Back and visit Ocean Park for a livelier experience. At the base of Victoria Peak is Hong Kong Park, a wonderful place to rest for a bit between destinations.
