Travel Tips and Advice for Namibia

Namibia Activities

Etosha National Park is Namibia’s most famous wildlife park with plenty of diverse game viewing opportunities at your fingertips, from guided game drives to walking safaris. Watch the sun setting over the busy watering hole at “rush hour” and discover the barrenness of the Etosha Salt Pan. Other activities include hot air ballooning over the Namib Desert, sand boarding in Swakopmud and bird watching along the Caprivi Strip (one of Africa’s Top 10 birding destinations).

Namibia Food & Drink

Home to many different cultures, what you eat in Namibia depends on where you are. Game meat is popular with a choice of kudu, oryx and other antelope gracing just about every menu, while ostrich and zebra biltong (dried meat) is a must. Fresh seafood can be enjoyed along the coastline. If you’re daring, try Mataku – fortified watermelon wine found in northern Namibia. Don’t forget to try Kalahari truffles served with ostrich steak, and the Namibian micro-brewed beer, Camelthorn.

Namibia Attractions

The Fish River Canyon is the largest in Africa and popular for 5-day hiking trails that end at Ai Ais Hot Springs. Travel through the red dunes of Sossusvlei, an ephemeral pan in different shades of reds, yellows and browns, making it one of the world’s most visually appealing landscapes. Travel the haunting bends of the Skeleton Coast and explore the shipwreck remains or head into Bushmanland, the home of the last San people, and experience some of the best star gazing opportunities on earth.
